Lynn E. Courter - Class of 2014

MSgt Lynn E. Courter, USAF Ret.

Fall of 1972 Lynn took Football Officiating Class at Minot State College, Minot N. Dakota. He worked Flag football games as part of a class requirement at the Middle/High School next to the college. From 1972 Thru 1974 He worked Fr., JV and Varsity games for the North Dakota Officials Association.

1975 thru 2011 Lynn worked games for the AIA. His Football mentors were some of the best, Randy Rossler, Jim Murphy, Ed Burk and Sam Corso,. Lynn was a crew chief on freshman and JV from 1978 thru 2011. During this time as a crew chief he enjoyed mentoring young officials. Lynn worked on a varsity crew from 1983 to 2001. The crew was assigned to work many playoff games and four State Championship games. Lynn worked all five positions in varsity games during his football career. In 2002 he became a Varsity crew chief and again worked state playoff games and ended his career working the Division Six State Championship game.

Lynn also umpired High School Girls Softball for 17 years for the AIA. He worked two years with his daughter Michelle, which he felt was the hi-light of his career.

He was an AZFOA Board member from 1996 to 2011 where Lynn served on the Awards committee with Larry Kindred. Lynn also assisted in conducting rules classes in the South West area.

Married to Kathleen for 47 years and have 2 Daughters (Michelle & Sarah) and three beautiful grandchildren.
